Moderating meeting rooms
Meeting rooms are areas of your map with the Meeting Room property: when users walk in, they join the same video conversation. You create them with the map editor (Tools > Map Editor in the action bar), as explained in the meeting room property guide.
Who can moderate a meeting room
In the map editor, for each meeting room area, a "Moderator tag for the meeting room" field can be filled (in the "Advanced options"). Put any tag here. Users with this tag will be able to moderate the meeting.
In addition, users with the admin tag can always moderate a meeting.
Moderating a meeting
In the meeting, open the menu of a participant's video tile. Administrators get these actions:
- Mute audio: turns off the participant's microphone.
- Mute audio for everybody: turns off the microphone of every participant.
- Turn off video: turns off the participant's camera.
- Turn off video for everybody: turns off the camera of every participant.
- Kick off user: removes the participant from the meeting.
The participant is notified when their microphone or camera is turned off. They can turn it back on themselves.
Participants who are not moderators only see Ask to mute audio and Ask to turn off video: the other participant receives a request and decides whether to accept it.
Muting people when they enter
When many people come and go, arrivals can disturb the speaker. In the More Options of the Meeting Room property, you can turn on:
- Start with microphone muted
- Start with video closed
Users entering the meeting room then have their microphone or camera turned off. They can turn it back on themselves.
Jitsi rooms
If your map uses the Jitsi Room property instead of the Meeting Room property, you can give Jitsi moderator rights to the members who have a given tag. Moderators also get access to Jitsi's recording and live streaming (see Recording a Jitsi room). Administrators are always moderators of Jitsi rooms.
1- Give a tag to your moderators
Let's say you want to grant moderator rights to anyone who has the "speaker" tag. In the members list, create or edit the members and add the "speaker" tag.
2- Set the moderator tag on the Jitsi Room
In the map editor, edit the area with the Jitsi Room property and click More Options. In Moderator tag for the meeting room, type the tag (in our case: "speaker"). In the same window, Start with microphone muted and Start with video closed mute people when they enter.
Leave the Jitsi URL field of the property empty: the moderator tag only works with the Jitsi server provided with WorkAdventure, not with a Jitsi server you set in this field.
If your map is built with Tiled, add a jitsiRoomAdminTag property next to the jitsiRoom property instead (see meeting rooms in Tiled).
3- Log in with the moderator account
The moderator must be logged in with their member account. In the members list, click on the member: the Room access section gives a "URL access" link for each room. This "autologin" URL logs the member into WorkAdventure.
